Finding Purpose
I’m Maria Schmidt, one of the founding partners at Biosysco, the technology company behind the revolutionary Sigma Q (ΣQ®) neurotherapy. My story is one of many, but it’s proof that sometimes your purpose finds you.
Most of my life, I’d been an athlete, running marathons and leading an otherwise active life. In 2008, I was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening disease. Doctors gave me 2 years to live. Suddenly, I was unable to perform basic everyday tasks. In a matter of months I was bedridden, suffering from severe pain and a range of unexplained symptoms. I eventually dropped to 90 lbs. Painkillers, sleeping pills, and a cocktail of other drugs were my only relief.
I didn’t want to live like this. And if I was going to die, it would be on my terms. After seeing dozens of doctors, I found one who changed my life forever. She suggested an emerging new technology that might be able to help me. It was a long shot, but why not? I had nothing to lose.
To my great surprise, the treatment completely turned the tide. After using it just once, I was able to sleep through the night and reduce my pain significantly enough that I didn’t need my pain meds. I continued the treatments for 6 months, during which I regained my strength, my hope, and my quality of life. I felt like I was strong enough to fight and overcome my illness. And sure enough, I did.
I had always wanted to do something that would help people and change the world for the better, and here it was staring me right in the face. After my condition went into remission, I decided I wanted to bring this life-changing technology to as many people as possible. I reached out to the inventor of the technology, Dr. Roberto Ciaff, and so began a lasting partnership.
For the past 10 years, I’ve worked with Sigma Q (ΣQ®) on marketing and research, but the true satisfaction lies in the amazing stories of people benefiting from this unique technology. Professional athletes, people with life-threatening conditions like myself, and everyone in between. I can’t help but bring up Sigma Q (ΣQ®) in my everyday conversations with friends, family and even strangers, because almost everyone can benefit from the treatment. I am fiercely loyal to the mission of improving our patients’ lives.
I hope we’ve sparked your interest. If there’s someone in your life who could be served by the treatment, please don’t hesitate to lead them our way.

Dr. Ciaff’s founder’s story
Growing up I had severe back pain. I spent nearly two decades looking for a diagnosis, trying many prescription drugs including opioids and steroid injections, all to no avail. I finally decided to take on the research myself, and so began my journey to becoming a medical doctor.
I’d already learned a great deal about how my body worked, and I applied this knowledge to my research. I arrived at the root cause of my issue: the multifidus muscles in my lower back were not firing correctly. Every doctor I saw recommended the same thing: a combination of physical therapy and the use of electrical stim TENS machines.
Why was everyone advocating the use of an electrical current?
This question spurred further research, leading me to Façadism, Galvanic, TENS and all fixed settings of electrical current or frequencies.
I delved deeper into neuroscience and neurosurgery, exploring brain functionalities, frequencies and pathways. I began to understand how the brain sends signals to our organs so that they may function.
Here, my career took another turn and I worked to become a qualified medical forensic examiner. I realized that organs, especially muscles, worked on variable frequencies and not any fixed format. Electrical stimulators, meanwhile, were all fixed generators that could only stimulate topical areas like sensory nerves, failing to activate muscles at the source.
Then came another big step in the journey: I was able to establish an ion charged packets algorithm to generate action potential. Over time, my work with brainwave frequencies allowed me to create additional algorithms that would help charged packets travel even further into the body.
Finally, Cumulative Charge Activation Technology, or Sigma Q (ΣQ®), was born. With the ability to address my condition and activate the motor neurons that allow my multifidus muscles to function, this treatment completely resolved my back pains once and for all. Once a series of experiments with a bucket of water, Sigma Q (ΣQ®) had evolved into a sophisticated, progressive new technology.
